To transmit the culture linked to local traditions in the neighborhoods and places that bear witness to it, the Culture Division is carrying out the project " Community maps ”. This initiative is aimed at preserving oral culture and handing it down to the new generations, also through the use of digital technologies.
The Community Map not è only a useful tool for collecting data, but first and foremost a means to build a network of interest and knowledge, of social and cultural relationships. Its adoption as a working tool favors a participatory approach to the culture and knowledge of the territory, contributing to the consolidation of the sense of community. The project, which began in October of 2023, has already involved the population of the districts of Sonvico, Dino, Cadro and Villa Luganese; now è the time to present the contents relating to the districts of Brè, Castagnola and Gandria. The mapping work is continuing on the rest of the territory of the City.
The maps were prepared by the inhabitants who participated in the meetings, telling what they did. that they consider important: art, places of yesterday and today, buildings, customs, crafts, recipes, traditions and memories have gone to compose a community charter, designed to be handed down and told both at the of the territory that towards the external.
