Mezzana celebrates 110 years and opens its doors to the public

The Centro professionale del Verde  and the Cantonal Agricultural Farm  of Mezzana celebrate the 110° anniversary with a series of events and activities. open to the public. After the official ceremony on Friday; May 23rd, the weekend of May 24th and May 25th will beà dedicated to two days of open doors, with practical demonstrations, meetings and initiatives aimed at families, young people and the curious.

L' initiative è organized in collaboration with various realities of the territory, such as Millestrade, the Cityà of the trades of Italian-speaking Switzerland and the Section of the agriculture, and aims to raise awareness of the many opportunities for agriculture. training and professional skills in the world of green.

Green as a profession: school, innovation and passion

Today more & that never before has the green sector represented a dynamic area full of prospects. Mezzana, with its CPV and the AAC, confirms itself as a point of reference for those who want to undertake an agricultural, botanical or forestry training.

Not è only the contact with nature to attract more and more young people towards these careers: the growing integration of technologies and innovations makes these professions even more & interesting and accessible. This is demonstrated by the participation of eight classes of the elementary schools of Balerna and Chiasso, who on Friday; will be involved in workshops dedicated to breeding, beekeeping, dairy, botany and silviculture.

At the same time, the CPV will proposeà specific conferences on phytoprotection and new technologies aimed at students and professionals in the sector.

Open doors on May 24 and 25: a weekend to discover the world of greenery

The Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May, the doors of the CPV and the AAC are open to everyone. The activities proposals will allow you to interact directly with apprentices who work in the agriculture, gardening, forestry, horticulture and floriculture. Guests of Honour will also be given to the Ticino teams of landscape gardeners who will participate in the SwissSkills 2025 in Bern.

The Higher Specialised School of Hotel and Tourism in Bellinzona also take over; part to event, enriching the offer with training proposals and practices related to sustainable tourism.

Numerous thematic associations will animate the exhibition spaces with products, demonstrations and activities; related to the beekeeping, fruit growing, the cultivation of vegetable plants and garden care.

A weekend of nature, wine and sustainable agriculture

During the weekend, the Cantonal Farm Participatingà also at the " demonstration Open cellars" , which will take place at the same time in the Sottoceneri. A more occasion for visitors to join the educational experience with a walk through the food and wine excellences of the area.

The Section of the agriculture will beà present with an information stand of the Phytosanitary Service and the Agricultural Advisory Office, where it will be presented the Progetto Viticoltura Sostenibile Ticino (ViSo).
