On the occasion of the World Bicycle Day, the Department of Territory (DT) announced that è was approved by the Council of State, in its last session, the strategy " Ticino Bici 2045", a series of concrete measures that will have the task of accompanying the construction of infrastructures for the next 20 years.
L' Strategy Objective è to strengthen the role of the bicycle as an efficient, sustainable and alternative to the automobile, both in terms of utilitarian and leisure-related travel. Currently, the average distance traveled by car to work is of about 4 km, a journey that can be be covered in little more; of 10 minutes by bicycle.

The Ticino Bici 2045 strategy is the result of a broad process of consultation and involvement of the various actors in the area both at cantonal and local level. Concretely, it is divided into 22 macro-measures and 53 concrete actions, in line with the provisions of the Federal Law on Cycle Paths, in force since 1° January 2023. The measures will accompany the construction of new infrastructures dedicated to mobility; cycle path, planned and implemented through the implementation of the Implementation Programmes agglomeration.
In addition to the approximately CHF 180 million planned for infrastructure over the next 10 years, the strategy envisages an additional CHF 2 million for infrastructure implementation of measures in various areas: from the development of cycle networks to the definition of design standards, from the improvement of parking conditions for bicycles to the development of signs, from the promotion of support services to the road education.
To officially present the strategy to the main stakeholders – such as municipalities, political representatives, companies and trade associations è The Bike Forum, a dedicated event to be held in the strongBike/strongstrongForum/strong, has been planned; on 30 September, from 13:30 to 17:00 at Auditorium of the Cantonal School of Commerce in Bellinzona.
