As part of the Air2030 program, Swiss aircraft manufacturer Pilatus will have direct access to the F-35A technology developed by Lockheed Martin, thanks to an offset agreement approved by the Federal Office of Armaments armasuisse.

This collaboration will allow Pilatus to develop advanced and tailor-made avionics and training systems for international customers using the F-35.

Strategic collaboration between Pilatus and Lockheed Martin

The partnership between Pilatus and Lockheed Martin is part of the industrial offsets envisaged by the purchase of 36 F-35A aircraft by Switzerland. Thanks to this offset deal, Pilatus will have the opportunity to create customized solutions, further strengthening its market position in the aviation and military training sector.

Innovative training system

In particular, Pilatus will collaborate with Lockheed Martin to develop an innovative system dedicated to the training of military pilots. This technology will be integrated into the PC-21, a training aircraft already internationally appreciated for its cutting-edge features.

Economic and technological benefits for Switzerland

The Air2030 compensation agreement is part of a broader strategy that provides for at least 60% of the total value of the purchase of the F-35A to return to Swiss industry, with a focus on advanced aerospace technology.

Offset business enables Swiss companies to acquire cutting-edge technological expertise, incentivising innovation and economic development in the long term.

Armasuisse will ensure compliance with the agreements, ensuring that the economic benefits for Switzerland are concrete and sustainable over time. The F-35As will gradually replace the Swiss Air Force's current F/A-18C/D Hornet and F-5E/F Tiger jets, with deliveries expected between 2027 and 2030.

Some aircraft will be produced in the United States, while much of the assembly will take place at the European plant in Cameri, with four units permanently assembled by RUAG in Emmen.
