While Ticino enters the heart of the carnival in Ticino, the radars on the roads of the Canton remain very active and without the desire to joke. The Cantonal Police and the municipal police have released the list of mobile and semi-stationary speed checks through in Ticino from 17 to 23 February 2025, with particular attention to the areas of Lugano and Bellinzonese.
The objective of these checks is always the same: to prevent road accidents and ensure the safety of all road users.
High speed continues to be one of the main causes of accidents, often with serious or fatal consequences.
Here's where radars will be positioned in Ticino during the week:
Bellinzona District:
Leventina District:
District of Riviera:
District of Locarno:
Lugano District:
Mendrisio District:
Please note that this list excludes detections carried out with unmarked cars and checks with laser guns, tools intended exclusively for the repression of the most serious violations of the Federal Law on Road Traffic.
In addition, the measure does not apply to checks on the motorway network, in line with the negative opinion of the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO).
Finally, the Cantonal Police reserves the right to carry out unannounced checks to ensure road safety and punish the most dangerous offences. The pre-announced checks may be subject to change according to service needs or any technical problems.
An invitation, therefore, to respect the speed limits: road safety is everyone's responsibility!
